2010 Patton Museum Day Ride

Well, we just finished lunch at the Fast Fire BBQ, and here we are at the Patton Tank Museum, ready to walk off some of the good ol' BBQ and enjoy the air conditioning and the the rather large collection of armored vehicles.  Which way to the Panzerkampfwagen III?
OK, I'm getting ahead of myself.  Let's start at the beginning.  Ron, Russell, and I met at the Moto Mart to discuss the route to the Patton Museum.
I had promised Russell to take him along the Ohio River, on the Kentucky side, some time ago, and Ron decided to join us for some great roads, fine scenery, and a tour of the museum.  Crossing the Ohio was the first time for a good photo op.  The blurred headlights are Russell and Ron catching Nature Dave by surprise.
Time out at Cloverport.
From Clover port we followed the river to Brandenburg, on to West Point to Louisville for BBQ and here we are walking though the outside display at the museum.
Inside the museum I was busy expanding my horizons while Russell and Ron were, well...
Are those WW I Doughboys or Pillsbury Doughboys?
The museum is basically a history of tank warfare, and it contains US tanks from WWI, WWII, current tanks, and tanks from other countries as well.  But since this is a motorcycle trip report I thought I'd include those photos that pertain to motorcycles in warfare.  The one is of a US soldier on a Harley, perhaps?
This other thing is a Trackcycle?  Do you think this is were BMW got their idea for the Hossack front suspension?
After the museum tour the Three Amigos rode to Corydon via New Amsterdam and shot down US 62 to get home safely.  The Patton Tank Museum is an interesting destination and there are plenty of twisty roads that will take you there, which ever side of the Ohio River you decide to travel.
